My Foxwoods Report for January 4th 2006

meet up with a coworker at 5:30 to make the 100 mile trek to Foxwoods........

He wants to take his own car so he follows me. About 40 miles in, while driving in the middle lane, the car in from of me makes a hard swerve to the right. Then he does that I can see a car about 50 feet in front of me traveling about 20MPH with no lights on at all. I swing around him with plenty of room to spare. SLOW DRIVERS STAY TO THE RIGHT! That will be a law punishable by death when I become king of the world.

We get to the Woods about 7:25 and I check in. My buddy needs a Wampum Card as he has never been there. He asks if he can use my address because he doesn't want things coming to the house. I guess his wife HATES gambling because of family issues when she was a kid. My coworker has to hid his card playing from her and he play once a month with his friends.

Things like this make me appreciate my wife even more and how she encourages me even thought she's not a big gambling fan. She knows how I play and the limits I set for myself whether winning or losing.

So my coworker, JJ from here out, both get seated at table 12. As he has never played in a live tournament I give him the turbo FAQ answers about playing live.

Shuffle up and lead. Ying, a cute little Asian girl is our 1st dealer and the button is seat 8. JJ's seat. I am in seat 4 when it's folded to me and I see AQo and raise to 75 and take the blinds. I had planned to jot down every staring hand I had but gave up as we got deeper.

2nd hand I get AQ clubs (hey this game is easy) and it's folded to me and I raise to 75 again. Baked looking kid in seat 6 calls and everyone else folds. Flop is K hi and a continuation bet takes it down. 2 for 2.

3rd hand I limp with AJo and fold to a raise and a re-raise pre flop where pocket queens ended up winning the hand.

Hands 4-6 were J6o UTG, Q8o in the BB and I folded to a 4X raise from MP and JQclubs in the SB. UTG raised to 75 and player in seat 10 re-raised to 250. I folded and the UTG called and folded to a pot sized pet on an AXX flop. Seat 10 gladly shows his 2&4 of spades. Ohhhhhhhhh a bluff 6 hands in.

Hand 7 was the highlight of my day. I'm on the button and it's folded to me and I raise to 75 with 88. SB folds and BB (Baked Kid) calls. Flop was 8 6 8. TYVM.
BK bets 150 and I take about 15 seconds to call. Turn is a K and he checks I throw out a 200 bet and he min raises me to 400 and I call. River was a 2 and he checks to me. Can I get anything more out of him?? I bet 500 and he folds and I turn the quad 8's face up. Still I got partially paid off after flopping quads

Hands 8-10 were 10-4o, 5-4o and 4-8 clubs.

Hand 11 was interesting and I was happy not to lose a lot here. I'm in LP at the 25/50 level with 44 and it's folded to me and I raise to 150. Player directly to my left calls as does the BB. Flop was all diamonds K high. Checked to me and I bet 300 and seat 5 calls. BB folds. I am now done with this hand unless a 4 hits. Turn is a blank and it goes check, check. River is another K and I check and the kid takes FOREVER and checks showing pocket Aces.

The next 9 hands I play nothing and I am dealt: ??, 23o on the button where I would have flopped a full house, 8-3o, Q-10 in the SB where there was a 4X raise and 2 calls before I folded, Q-8, 6-9, Q-7, 4-7, 7-8 & J-7.

Hand 22 I get 89 in the BB and get 2 limpers to me and I check my option. Flop of J9X and my check raise takes down the pot.

Hand 23 50/100 on the SB my buddy JJ limps and it's folded to me and I have 9-3 clubs and complete and the BB checks. Flop is 10 3 5 and it's checked around. Turn is a 9 and I bet out 200. BB folds and JJ calls. River is a Q and I throw out another 200 and J calls with A6. I guess of all that WADB play I have been making paid off a little.

I little about JJ here. While he was playing he was so transparent if the flop hit him and he was the 1st to act he bet the minimum. If a coordinated board was there and the action was to him he would always check his cards again. When the table eventually broke I told him he was real easy to read and to mix up his betting somewhat.

Hands 24-26 were K2, ?? and A5 all folded pre flop.

Hand 27 took down the blinds with a SPFR with 88.

Our table broke 5 hands later with nothing of note. I have 3175 when we move.

1st hand of the new table I am dealt A9 and fold to a raise and an all in by a short stacked player.

5 hands later 100/200/25 UTG raises to 600 and it's folded to me and I wake up with 10-10 and raise to 1600. BB folds and UTG folds AJ of spades face up.

Hand 43 in the cutoff it's folded to me and I raise to 700 with AQ. all fold to the BB who calls and has a huge stack of chips. Flop of JJ5 is checked to me and I throw out 700 and he insta calls. Turn is a 9 and it's checked to me and I'm lost. I can't be ahead, can I? I check behind. River is a 10 and it's checked to me and I have about 2300 left and I out on the puss suit and check. Villain shows 8-5 diamonds. This hand shows the value of information because as I would come to see this guy was begging for people to take his chips.

2 hands later I am dealt 88 and I raise to 700 with 1600 behind. Villain from last hand calls and SB looks as if he is about to vomit calls also.
Flop is 2-3-5 and SB checks and I push fold and SB takes forever and folds AQ. T3675 at break.

Another example of how the villain in hand 43 wanted to give away chips in the 200/400/25 level. UTG+1 pushes (1900) and villain calls and the BB pushes for 600 more and villain calls. UTG +1 has 55, villian had KJ spades and BB has 10-10 a baord of 3-4-6-2-9 and UTG+1 triples up and BB takes the side pot.

Same villian calls a 3X SPFR and 3 see a flop os 3-8-J rainbow and he goes all in and shows his AA. I don't get it.

Go card dead but pick up the binds once in the next 2 orbit to stay even. Get moved again and play 2 hands before the whole table breaks.

Moved to table 1 seat 5. with 50 players left and were at 300-600 50 and I have about 2800. Never get a chance to do anything becasue I have no cards and when I'm in a position to push steal someone beats me to the punch. I have 1900 aftr posting BB and ante and UTG makes it 1200 to go and it's folded to me and I push. He calls about 10 seconds later with 55 and I don't improve and g out about 42nd.

Overall I am happy with the way I played but I know I missed a spot or 2 like folding KQc to a 4XBB raise and a call. No matter the outcome I think I have to start making that call in this situation with position.

Watch JJ bust out in about 30th position. He lost most of his chips when he limped with AQ and lost to a BB special of 2-4. THis is how we learn though isn't it.

Played Carribean Stud and won $65 so it wasn't all that bad. Wanted to play an ACT but they had just started one and I didn't
