It's been a month.......

Well after my dismal showing at Cotterpalooza 2 I decided to use some of my BR to get my wife something nice. So I withdrew all of my funds except for the following amounts:
Party $50
Full Tilt $100
Bodog $120
This left me with a total bankroll of $270. I used the funds to buy a nice diamond anniversary ring for my wife. More on her in a later post.

So now I got back to the lowest levels and play strict ABC poker. I’m sure some members of fulltiltforum.com are happy and sad about this.

During this time we had a fundraiser for a member of FTF and his fiancĂ©e who was diagnosed with leukemia. I jumped in with both feet because my wife’s little brother died on leukemia 30 years ago so it’s a cause close to her heart.

Full Tilt let us set up a private tournament. It was a $10 tourney and instead of the usual $1 rake it was set up at $16 so a full $15 from every player went into the fund.

Andy Bloch, John D’Agostino, Eric Sidel, Jennifer Harmen and a few well know poker bloggers played. Over 150 people turned out. $5000 was raised.

I busted on a SB vs BB hand about 7 or 8 hands in. Folded to me in the SB and I have Q5 of spades and complete. BB ckecks. Flop of KQx with 2 spades and I make a pot sized bet and am raised and I push. It takes about 7 seconds for the BB to call with AA and no Q, 5 or spade hits and I’m gone in 147th. Woot!!

We also have people marathoning all weekend. I did HORRIBLY at the cash tables and lost about $45. I did donate some raffle prizes and ½ the proceeds from an Ebay item that sold for $86. I’m still not sure of the total yet but I bet it’s impressive. Edit: $5000 was raised.

So in the month since I decreased my BR I have grinded out some money. I sit today with the following totals:
Party $130
Full Tilt $250
Bodog $120. God the new software sucks.
So I have almost doubled it in a month playing mainly $5 S&G’s on Parts and FT.

Even though the software sucks my plan is to use the Bodog funds to try my WSOP qualifying.

Other thoughts:
Peter aka Nordberg has been bubbling left and right in WSOP sats. I think the total is 4 now. It seems as he has the right mental makeup because he is still plugging away not letting the bad beats wear on his as far as I can tell. He lost a BRUTAL hand knocking him out of the WPT event at the Borgata. He got into the $$ and was a consistent short stack. He battled back to the final 7. The TV bubble. He was the short stack once again when the 2nd short stack pushed with AK and Peter woke up with AA.
With a T and a J on the flop he just had to dodge running K’s or a Q. 82% to win after the flop. A Q on the turn left him looking for a river K to chop which never came and he left in 7th place for 73K. Tough beat for a very good player.

Going to Grand Canyon and Vegas in 3 weeks. Can’t wait!
